Health Professionals Foundation Program

MBChB Program

The Health Professionals Foundation Program at TAU-Zambia is a one of the Foundation Medicine Courses that has been designed to prepare students for the MBChB Program. With a strong footing in natural sciences, behavioural sciences and medical terminology, the course covers the fundamental concepts of medical sciences.

Our HPFP program is a 12-month full-time program that encourages students to think and learn beyond conventional methods and aims to shape their future as healthcare professionals.

Grade Twelve School Certificate or GCE with 5 credits or better, four of which must be English Language, Mathematics, Biology and Science.

Selection Factors

Students to Texila American University (TAU) are selected on the basis of their academic, personal, and extracurricular abilities. Each student will be assessed based on the educational background, age, and intended course of study. Additionally, students must have the intellectual, physical, and emotional capacities to meet the requirements of a successful medical career.

TAU-Zambia’s intensive medical program requires students who are intellectually and emotionally prepared to take on the stress of studying medicine with a view to becoming global doctors.

What Do You Gain?

Our full-time Health Professionals Foundation Program also referred to as a pre-med course, is a pre-requisite foundation required to study medicine in Zambia.

Learning Outcomes

  • A student with a non-scientific background will obtain the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude required to pursue health professional degrees in the future.
  • The program is designed to bridge the study of natural sciences and health sciences. Upon completion of the program, students who wish to study medicine in Zambia will have the information required to start their medical or health professional journey.
  • The program confers a robust understanding of health sciences imparted at the bachelor’s degree level. Graduates will obtain a foundational level of theoretical familiarity and also be exposed to real-world practical applications. The teaching pedagogy includes tutorials, lectures, simulations, personal mentoring, problem-based erudition, and assessments
  • Graduates will also develop soft-skills and inter-personal skills that are required to function in the health and medical industry.
