“Education is the foundation upon which we build our future”
It’s 2018 – and education fairs and/or expos have emerged as an important instrument for communication for institutions with their targeted audiences. For students and parents as well, an education expo is an ideal place to learn about new institutions, programs available, curriculum details, fee structure and more, along with meeting representatives from the institutions.
As a top medical college in Zambia, at Texila American University we seek to promote awareness and education in health sciences and medical studies. Our participation in Education Expo organized by Elevate Foundation, Zambia was a way to educate young minds on the prospects and opportunities available with a degree in medicine and health sciences.
Texila at the Education Expo: The Event
Held between 14th and 15th June, 2018, the education expo witnessed the participation of top academic institutions and universities from across Zambia. Institutes like Copperbelt University, University of Zambia, Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies etc. participated in the expo and set up booths for student engagement and interaction.
The event was a huge success with students from numerous schools visiting the event and participating in the activities carried out at the booth. Some of the participating schools included: Chinika Secondary School,Thornhill Secondary School, Olympia Park Secondary School, Naboye Secondary School to name a few.
Texilians engaging with students at the Education Expo
A team of 6 students and 3 representatives of Texila American University carried out several activities to engage with students attending the event. Activities included:
- Explanation of internal body parts using a unisex model
- Informative session about the campus followed by a luck drop competition
- Quiz using the unisex model
Winning students were offered TAU mementos including key holders and pens.
For Texilians, the event was rather enjoyable and memorable. Not only was Texila awarded the 1st position for the Best Exhibitor at the event, but our booth was also visited by hip-hop musician Macky 2!
Students often wish to pursue their career in certain specialized fields but are unaware of its prospects and career possibilities. Attending education exhibitions helps them interact with college representatives, students from other colleges, experts and find their ideal college/course.
At the education expo, we realized that majority of the students who attended our booth were keen to study medicine and pursue a career as a doctor. There were others who showed interest to considered other fields such as pharmacy, information technology and education.
The expo was an overwhelming experience with the participating students enjoying the event thoroughly!
